An exceptional pair of Huguenot-style brass candlesticks engraved with the arms of the second Earl of Carlisle, circa late 17th century. They are of precisely the same pattern and height as those of a set of four made for the Spencers at Althorp by the Huguenot silversmith Pierre Harache, with whom the Earl of Carlisle left his valuables for safekeeping when he travelled from Carlisle House in London to Naworth Castle in Cumberland. It is therefore more than likely that these brass sticks were the work of Harache
